Arsenal were held 1-1 at home by Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, the result severely denting their top-four hopes and confirming Chelsea’s Champions League return.

The Blues moved up to third place in the table with a home win against Watford and their fellow Europa League semi-finalists were unable to respond at Emirates Stadium later on Sunday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal an early lead from the penalty spot, but Brighton – whose survival was rubbed-stamped by Cardiff City’s relegation on Saturday – battled back to claim a deserved draw.
