Why We Didn’t Allow Atiku Inspect Election Materials – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Legation (INEC) has clarified pursuit allegations it refused to indulge Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), inspect referendum materials.

Atiku had headed to the magistrate without losing the February 23 referendum to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He had filed an using to hogtie INEC to grant him wangle to materials used for the referendum and the magistrate granted his prayer.

But Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP spokesman, said despite stuff served with the order, INEC denied Atiku wangle to the materials.

Asked to react, Rotimi Oyekanmi, spokesman of INEC chairman, told The Cable that INEC will comply with the magistrate directive “if and when the legation receives the order”.

“It is worldwide knowledge that since the declaration of the results of the presidential election, the legation has been rented with the multiple activities associated with the national assembly, governorship, state houses of turnout and federal wanted territory elections,” he said.

“Only last Thursday, the legation presented certificates of return to senators-elect and house of representatives members-elect, including PDP members.

“Nevertheless, the legation will comply when the due process is followed.”
